Hanoi (Halong Bay), Vietnam

You will likely be tendering in Halong Bay, which is a 3 to 4 hour drive from Hanoi.  The drive is on bumpy roads through villages and scenic rice fields.  Halong Bay itself is beautiful.  Take a junk boat for a trip around the bay; the junk boats come right up to the Millennium, making transport easier.  From some reviews I've read, many take an overnight luxury junk boat cruise in the Bay.  This is a good internet café near the tender dock. Click here for a beautiful Youtube video of Halong Bay

If you opt to go to Hanoi, here are some of the sights to see.
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - View the changing of the guard at noon. Nearby is the Presidential Palace built in 1901 for the French Governor.
Shop in the Old Quarter for souvenirs.
For those who were in the Vietnam War, go to the Ho Chi Minh Trail Museum to learn what the North Vietnamese were doing.
